theresa griffin

Theresa GriffinTheresa has been a Labour candidate for the North West region at the European elections in 1999 and 2004, and is Deputy Chair of Labour North West and CLPs representative on Labour’s National Policy Forum.

She was a Liverpool City Councillor in the 1990s, and was Chair of the City’s Economic Development and European Affairs Committees. She knows how Europe works, and how to get the best from it for the region. In her professional and political life, she has worked with the European institutions to bring investment to the North West for training, regeneration and job creation across the region.

She says: As Labour representatives, we need to continue our efforts to make things better for this and future generations. To fight fascism and racism across the region. To build a progressive Europe for local people working with our Labour Government here in the UK.

Theresa’s priorities:

  • Creating and retaining quality jobs and promoting our region, products and services internationally
  • Securing European Union support to enhance and expand high quality training and to continue to regenerate our great cities and coastal resorts, develop our rural economies and maintain our existing employment base
  • Building sustainable communities where every voice is heard, fighting oppression and engaging those traditionally excluded in the development and implementation of local, national and European policy
  • Securing workplace rights and social protection
  • Ensuring that the EU continues to lead the rest of the world to deliver a binding plan for the reduction of greenhouse gases globally and to tackle climate change
  • Working with Socialist colleagues to protect human rights and end the misery of cross-border crime and human trafficking
  • Team Labour: working to maximise membership and the Labour vote at local, national and European elections.
