Robert Evans is the longest serving of London’s nine MEPs, having been first elected for London North West in 1994. Under the current electoral system Robert is now a Labour MEP covering the whole of the capital but with special responsibility for 10 boroughs namely Brent, Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham, Harrow, Hillingdon, Hounslow, Kingston, Merton, Richmond and Sutton.
Robert is a member of the Transport and Tourism Committee in the European Parliament. Previously he has served on the Citizens Rights and Home Affairs Committee (of which he was vice chair for five years), the Development Committee and the Culture, Youth and Education Committee. Robert is a long standing member of the South Asia delegation – with a particluar interest in Sri Lanka and Bangladesh and a leading member of the Georgia, Azerbajan and Armenia Delegation in addition to his continuing work with both the Romania and Moldova Joint Parliamentary Committees. He is also a prominent supporter of animal welfare both in the European Parliament and at national level.
