Paul is an experienced European policy-maker and campaigner with his roots in the mining village of Fishcross in Clackmannanshire.
He has lived and worked in Italy, Belgium, Denmark and Sweden for the last two decades, including:
- 14 years experience as a senior official of the European Commission working on issues such as employment and regional development.
- Serving as political advisor to Margot Wallström, the highly-respected social democrat Commissioner for the Environment in Brussels.
- Senior official at the European Environment Agency in Copenhagen reporting to European governments and the EU institutions on the state of Europe’s environment.
- Paul lives between southern Sweden and Scotland with his Swedish partner and their four daughters in a bilingual Swedish-English home. He also speaks French and Italian.
He is an active member of both the Labour Party and the Swedish Social Democrats and is very keen to build stronger connections between our sister parties.
He has volunteered as part of the policy team for Scottish Labour and has worked in constituencies with local activists.
He is an active member of Ochil and South Perthshire CLP where the SNP threat is strong. Hard work and organisation at the local level is essential and is committed to working with CLPs across Scotland to make the Labour case.
