kathy salt
Kathy commenced her political career as a parish councillor at the age of 21. Since then, she has held positions as a town councillor and a borough councillor in Amber Valley.
Kathy knows that Labour is campaigning hard to protect workers in the East Midlands and wants to see this work continue.
Kathy says:
Ensuring fairness for workers in the East Midlands should be a priority. Unlike the do nothing Tories who have voted against plans to increase workers rights, your Labour MEPs have worked hard to enable workers to have guaranteed four weeks paid holiday per year, protection against discrimination and more rights for part time workers.
This is why Labour believes it is so important that we are well represented in Europe, to protect and increase the rights of people in the East Midlands.
Kathy is an active member of the NAS/UWT, the Co-operative party, Unite and is an associate member of the Far East Prisoner of war society (FEPOW - her uncle was a prisoner of war and was forced to work on the Burma railway). Kathy was awarded the MBE for her continued commitment to charity work. Kathy will be participating in the London marathon 2009 for Ashgate Hospice in the memory of her Mum.
