Cate, who was educated in Oxford and Nottingham, has held elected positions as a publicity and campaigns officer and also as President of the College Law Society. Cate’s roots are in the East Midlands having grown up in Lincolnshire and she retains those links with family still living in Grantham and Mansfield.

Cate says:

Being a part of Europe means we can be more effective in targeting problems such as the economic downturn, tackling climate change and the fight against terrorism - issues which cannot be solved by the UK alone.

That’s why it is so important that we take our involvement in Europe seriously. Labour MEPs know the value that being in Europe can bring and work hard to ensure that the needs of the East Midlands are always put first.

  

Cate has previously worked as a volunteer to both an MEP and also a MSP. She was also actively involved in canvassing for her local party in 1997.
