call your MP now

One way to make sure our MPs get the message is to call them personally and ask them to vote to stop the Pensions Bill tonight. Even if you've just emailed them, picking up the phone will help back up the message, and also make sure they hear what you have to say in time (MPs get a lot of emails).

Use this page to help you decide what to say, and also to let us know what your MP said.

It's a good idea to have a look at this briefing before you call, or have it to hand when you're on the phone. Download it here.

You might not be able to get through to your MP straight away - if not, speak to their staff member about the issue and also ask for the MP to call you back in person to discuss the issue before the vote.

Call the House of Commons on 020 7219 3000 and ask to speak to your MP. If you're not sure who your MP is, you can look it up here. Tell your MP or their staff member your name, and that you are one of their constituents.

Tell them you are calling about the Second Reading of the Pensions Bill that is taking place on Monday. Tell them that you think the Bill is unfair, and explain why (five million people will have to wait longer for their pension - half a million women will have to wait longer than a year longer for their pension, and 33,000 will have to wait two years - the people affected are already in their late 50s and these plans don’t give them long enough to prepare).

If your MP is a Liberal Democrat or a Conservative, tell them that the Pensions Bill breaks a promise they made in the Coalition Agreement.

Ask your MP if they will help to stop the Bill, by voting against the Bill at its Second Reading on Monday.
