Unison unveils G20 campaign

I am asking all UNISON members to come to London on 28 March to march for jobs, justice and the climate as the world faces up to the economic crisis caused by fat cat bankers, says general secretary Dave Prentis in a new UNISON leaflet.

The leaflet is being printed now and bulk supplies will be dispatched to UNISON regional offices next week. Union branches and activists will then be able to order copies from their regions.

But there is only just over a month to organise for the march: so if you need them now, you can download and print out copies from our website. A colour version can be downloaded here.

The march will assemble at 11am on Victoria Embankment, London, on the Saturday before the G20 summit in the capital, and UNISON regions are co-ordinating transport.

UNISON is at the forefront of campaigning to protect public services, and the jobs of our members who provide them, says Mr Prentis.

We recognise that, in difficult times, they provide a vital safety net for those struggling with unemployment, price hikes and house repossessions.

Public services have never been more vital to our society and our economic recovery.

This is why we are leading the drive to get thousands of our members on the streets in protest against job losses and the threat to public services as hardworking families foot the bill for bailing out the banking system across the UK and beyond.

With other trade unions, environmental, development and faith organisations, we are calling on governments to put people first.
