Following the successful campaign in 2007, when backbench Labour MPs showed overwhelming support for the Temporary and Agency Workers Private Member's Bill, Andrew Miller MP is sponsoring a new Bill for 2008: the Temporary and Agency Workers (Equal Treatment) Bill.
This Bill is up for its second reading on Friday 22nd February, and if it is to proceed then we need the support of at least 100 MPs.
TULO is asking you to email your Labour MPs to ask them to be there to support the Bill on 22nd February.
Please complete this form, and don’t forget to include your address so that your MP knows you live in their Constituency. You can select your MP from the drop-down menu if you don’t know who your MP is, then click here and enter your postcode.
We have provided some model text that you might want to use to formulate your email but feel free to amend it. Adding personal details and any examples you know of agency abuses will make it more powerful.
Please let us know if your MP replies to let you know whether they will be attending to support the Bill on 22nd February you can email us at info@unionstogether.org.uk.
If you do not have a Labour MP you can still get involved. Fill in the form and select 'I do not have a Labour MP' in the drop-down menu and we will add you to our mailing list.
You could also write to John Hutton MP, Secretary of State for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform, but please put this letter in writing to his Departmental address below, and do not send him an email unless he is your local Member of Parliament.
